The Why Question

Somebody asked me the other day why I was riding my bike 6000 miles across Canada. I have been getting asked this a lot lately. It’s a fair question. Lots of possible answers. To get away. Fitness. Vacation. Or something deeper. Instead of quoting Viktor Frankl and snippets of Logotherapy I chose the short answer. “Cuz I like to party.” The person gave me this very bizarre stare, squinted their eyes, and asked me a question about caloric intake necessary for each day. I was still laughing and she must have though I left my brain somewhere. Little does she know I lost it along time ago in a galaxy far far away by where Yoda lives.

So the why question is simple. Cycling, going on adventures, and being outdoors is my thing. We sort of have an idea what we are doing, but we sort of don’t as well. I like living in that tension. To me that tension is where the party lies. Thus the reason is “cuz I like to party.”
