Day 49

7/10/09: Off day. Wawa, Ontario.

Check out the blog as we’ve updated the blog photos. And also check out the photo page as we have everything from the Canadian Rockies through Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Thanks so much Jerry for the work you’ve put into getting those photos on line!!

Not much to report today. We woke up at 6:00am to a deluge of a thunder storm. Back to sleep for an hour. Back up, and it’s still raining, hard. And that was about it, no go for today. Couple that with a monster wind out of the south that was quite impressive. DONE. Wawa became our home for Friday. And not a bad deal, as we turned the Tour on at 8:30 and watched the live feed till noon. And our buddy Rob dropped in, having himself decided to forego the rain ride, and we all just chilled and watched the tour.

It probably rained up through noon, and then it slowly dissipated save for the southerly wind. Rob and I hit the Subway for a nooner, while Ryan munched on goodies and junk food. Then it was just a matter of catching up on things…..like doing laundry in the sink, uploading photos to the blog site, skyped, and worked on the computer. Rob caught up on his laundry to, and I think this was his first motel of his 2500 mile journey. These rest days feel really great, and I cannot say that I’m bummed that we miss a day here and there along the way. The recuperation is fantastic.

Round about dinner time we ended up hitting a little local diner truck for some pountine, and then Subway for the grand finale. Rob will stay here tonight and then start out with us tomorrow for the ride to Montreal River. We’ll travel through Lake Superior Provincial Park, which in addition to being incredibly beautiful, is a very tough stretch of climbing. We’re to meet with Ryan’s parents at Montreal River tomorrow. One of the Subway gals told us that tonight is supposed to be filled with nasty thunder storms, and then Sat-Tues is slated for great weather.

We’re over the 3200 mile mark now, and getting close to being directly over Ohio. This should occur on Thursday, when we arrive on the Tobermory Peninsula in Ontario.

         Talk to you all tomorrow………Pete
